It’s Magnificent Mermaid Thursday and I’d like to introduce you to Melissa!
Hi Melissa, tell us a little about yourself! Are you married, do you have kids, where do you live?
“I live in a very small rural town, Hinckley Illinois. My husband and I have been married for 24 years and we have 4 children, ages 16, 12, 8 and 6. We also have 5 dogs and 1 cat.”
Do you have a job other than stamping?
“My real job, is being a stay at home mom, however with my youngest now in school all day I’m not sure that title applies anymore.”
How did you get interested and start stamping?
“After my oldest son was born I started scrapbooking which led to stamping. My first stamp set was alphabets so I wouldn’t need to continue to buy alphabet stickers. It was probably about 5 years later that I really started collecting stamps and my collection just keeps on growing!”
Can you tell us what your favorite embellishment is and why?
“I don’t think I can pick just one favorite embellishment. I’m very fond of flowers and rhinestones right now, plus I almost always use stickers in some way to embellish.”
Do you have a favorite stamp set from Michelle Perkett Studio?
“I love ALL of Michelle’s stamps but my favorites are the mermaids and fairies. I love the flowing lines and all the detail she does when she creates these.”
How would you describe your stamping style?
“I don’t really have a style of stamping unless you consider “messy” a style. Right now I am very much into the whole digital stamp thing so my inkpads don’t get the workout they used to.”
What’s your favorite part of stamping?
“My favorite part of stamping is working with digital stamps. I love that you can change the size of image so it’s the size you want, plus it’s easy to print multiple images that are perfect each time.”
What is your favorite non-card type project?
”I like to alter containers and boxes, or do a scrapbook page now and then.”
Have you ever been published?
“Yes, I have been in Scrapbook News and Review Magazine.”
Can you tell us about your favorite coloring medium and why you like it?
“My Copics. I love everything about them but especially how they flawlessly blend together to create just the color you want.”
Tell us a little about your blog…
“My blog is mostly about my projects but I do occasionally share some of my “life” and show pictures of the kids and dogs.”
