Magnificent Mermaid Day

I'd like to introduce you to Julie today!

Julie is a  happily married sahm with 2 kids, a beautiful daughter of 19 and a fabulous son who'll be 9 this month. We have a gorgeous English Springer Spaniel dog and 4 mad cats. We live in the UK just outside London.

I asked Julie how long she'd been stamping.

"I started stamping just over 2 years ago. I used to enter competitions on the computer (and won £10ks worth of prizes in a year), then found it was getting too much being on my laptop all day, so asked the other girls in the competitions forum I visited for some ideas on another hobby I could try. They suggested card making, and some of them sent me a few bits and pieces to get me started. I planned to combine the 2 hobbies, but I've barely entered any competitions since. The card making has well and truly taken over all my spare time.  My husband got so fed up of seeing my ever increasing pile of stash taking over the living room, that he had a crafting cabin built for me in the back garden"

My favourite embellishment would have to be ribbon. I think a bow can make so much difference to a card.
When asked if she had a favorite stamp from Michelle Perkett Studio she said,  “I have a soft spot for The Kissing Couple - Val and Vinnie as I named them, and also won one of Michelle's challenges using that image.”

I asked how she’d describe her stamping style and she said, “I wouldn't say I have a particular style, I love experimenting with all different styles. I'd like to practice making my own backgrounds a bit more.”
Julie’s  favourite part of stamping is the colouring.

She enjoys making little bags and boxes and following templates, then adjusting them to suit her own measurements.

I asked what is her favorite coloring medium is and why.  She said, “ I absolutely love my Promarkers. They blend so well. Give me a few images and my promarkers and I can spend hours just colouring. It's so relaxing.”

Tell us about your blog…  “I started my blog only a few weeks after starting crafting in September 2008 with a couple of ATCs. When I look back at my early stuff, I can see how far my crafting has progressed over the last 2 years. I tried a few different styles like decoupage or just adding embellishments before deciding stamping was what I really enjoyed. Most of my cards have stamping on them somewhere. I get lots of inspiration from blog hopping and entering challenges. Crafting has given me some great friends too!”

Here's one of Julie's beautiful cards, to see more of her art work you can visit her blog Julie's Crafty Space.

Please keep Julie and her family in your prayers, I received an e mail from her Tuesday, her father in law passed away suddenly.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Juile just a little bit as much as I have.  Remember we have a Stitch It Up challenge going on that you still have time to enter here!
